Job Overview:

Sourcebridge Co. is seeking expert Mechanical Design Engineers to contribute technical domain expertise to an innovative project for our client. In this role, you will apply your real-world engineering and manufacturing experience to help train and refine next-generation AI systems, directly shaping how advanced models understand CAD, technical drawings, and manufacturing principles.

No prior experience in AI is required — your practical domain knowledge, CAD proficiency, and understanding of manufacturing processes are what matter most.

Required Skills & Tech Stack:
  • CAD Software: SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Onshape, Autodesk Inventor, PTC Creo, Siemens NX, FreeCAD
  • Core Engineering: Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T), Design for Manufacturing (DFM)
  • Documentation: Engineering Drawing Interpretation, Drafting Standards, Technical Documentation
  • Manufacturing Knowledge: Manufacturing Processes, Material Selection, Precision & Accuracy
  • Collaboration: Remote Collaboration, Technical Written & Verbal Communication, Constructive Feedback & Critique

Responsibilities & Scope of Work:
  • Engineering Drawings: Create and interpret professional 2D and 3D engineering drawings, ensuring all critical dimensions and tolerances are conveyed accurately for production.
  • CAD Specification: Translate complex design requirements into clear, manufacturable CAD specifications across industry-standard CAD suites.
  • Modeling & Reference: Produce precise models using tools such as SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Onshape, Inventor, Creo, and NX, and reference models in FreeCAD.
  • GD&T Application: Apply advanced principles of tolerancing, dimensioning, and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) to all engineering deliverables.
  • Documentation & Review: Review, critique, and improve existing engineering documentation and provide clear written reasoning for design changes.
  • DFM Optimization: Share practical insights on Design for Manufacturability (DFM) to optimize mechanical parts for real-world production.

Requirements & Qualifications:
  • Mechanical Design Track Record: Extensive industry experience in mechanical engineering, with parts successfully transitioned from initial concept to physical production.
  • Multi-Platform CAD Proficiency: Expert-level capability in major CAD suites (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Onshape, Creo, NX, Inventor) and familiarity with FreeCAD.
  • Standards Mastery: Solid command of GD&T, drafting standards, tolerancing, and technical documentation.
  • Manufacturing Insight: Strong understanding of material selection, production processes, and DFM best practices.
  • Technical Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for documenting technical decisions and reviewing peer submissions remotely.

Compensation Structure:
  • Rate: $40 – $80 / hour equivalent.
  • Payment Structure: Output-based pay structure based on completed, verified tasks that meet project quality standards.
  • Start Timeline: We are actively filling seats and expect selected candidates to begin onboarding quickly.
