Overview:
Our client is seeking experienced Senior Platform Engineers to contribute to an innovative AI training initiative focused on cloud infrastructure and platform engineering.
In this role, you'll leverage your expertise in cloud platforms, distributed systems, DevOps, and production infrastructure to help train next-generation AI systems. Your real-world engineering knowledge will be used to create realistic cloud environments, infrastructure challenges, validation tests, and production-grade reference solutions that improve AI's ability to reason through complex engineering scenarios.
No previous AI experience is required—your cloud infrastructure and platform engineering expertise are what matter most.
Responsibilities:
- Design realistic cloud infrastructure scenarios involving distributed systems, networking, scalability, security, and reliability.
- Build reproducible, containerized environments with production-quality reference implementations and intentionally defective variants.
- Define measurable infrastructure requirements, deployment topologies, and runtime behaviors.
- Develop deterministic integration, deployment, recovery, security, performance, and failure-injection tests.
- Create realistic engineering tasks involving:
- Distributed systems
- Cloud networking
- Identity & Access Management (IAM)
- Queues and messaging systems
- Durable storage
- Observability
- Rolling deployments
- Disaster recovery
- Debug infrastructure environments and troubleshoot platform issues.
- Document engineering decisions and technical implementations.
- Review cloud engineering tasks created by other technical experts.
Requirements:
- Senior-level experience in:
- Platform Engineering
- Cloud Infrastructure
- DevOps
- Systems Engineering
- Site Reliability Engineering (SRE)
- Experience owning and operating production cloud platforms.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, scalable APIs, autoscaling, durable storage, and fault tolerance.
- Practical experience with IAM, private networking, least-privilege access, and service-to-service security.
- Experience implementing observability, Service Level Objectives (SLOs), rolling deployments, rollback strategies, and disaster recovery.
- Ability to develop infrastructure automation or testing tools.
- Experience debugging containerized environments.
- Proficiency in one or more programming or scripting languages used for infrastructure automation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Terraform or OpenTofu.
- Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Kubernetes, or multi-cloud infrastructure.
- Experience building internal developer platforms or shared platform services.
- Knowledge of edge infrastructure and cloud-native architectures.
- Experience with chaos engineering, resilience testing, fault injection, or local cloud emulators.
- Experience creating technical evaluations, automated grading systems, or AI training environments is an advantage.
