Overview:

SourceBridge Co. is seeking experienced AI Engineers and Software Engineers for a flexible remote contractor opportunity focused on training and evaluating next-generation AI systems.

 

In this role, you will create Reinforcement Learning environments that test AI models on complex software engineering problems using Model Context Protocol (MCP) tools.

 

Tasks may include fixing bugs, implementing features, refactoring code, and optimizing performance while requiring AI agents to discover and reason over information from real MCP servers.

 

You will design reproducible environments, deterministic verification methods, and golden reference solutions that accurately measure both MCP tool usage and software engineering ability.

 

No prior AI experience is required — your software engineering expertise is what matters.

Responsibilities:

• Create realistic Reinforcement Learning environments for software engineering tasks.
• Design tasks involving bug fixing, feature implementation, codebase refactoring, and performance optimization.
• Develop reproducible environments with clear setup and validation requirements.
• Create deterministic verification systems to evaluate AI-generated solutions.
• Develop golden reference solutions for assigned technical tasks.
• Evaluate how effectively AI agents use MCP tools to discover and reason over information.
• Assess solutions for correctness, maintainability, performance, and scalability.
• Apply strong debugging and software engineering practices to identify technical issues.
• Provide clear documentation and structured feedback.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams in a remote environment.

 

Requirements:

• Proficiency in one or more of C++, Python, Java, Go, TypeScript, or Rust.
• Deep understanding of algorithms and data structures.
• Strong knowledge of performance tuning and optimization.
• Demonstrated experience debugging complex software issues.
• Strong background in feature development and codebase refactoring.
• Proven ability to optimize software for performance and scalability.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Track record of success working in collaborative, cross-functional teams.
• Ability to work effectively in a remote environment.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working with large-scale or distributed codebases.
• Familiarity with modern AI or machine learning systems.
• Previous experience working with MCP or tool-integrated AI workflows.
• Experience participating in rigorous code reviews.
• Experience contributing to software engineering best practices.
