Overview:
SourceBridge Co. is seeking experienced Mechanical Engineering Technicians to contribute to an advanced AI evaluation project.
In this role, you’ll apply your hands-on expertise in testing, instrumentation, data collection, troubleshooting, and failure diagnosis to help develop high-quality evaluation tasks for next-generation AI systems.
No prior AI experience is required. Your technical expertise and real-world experience are what matter.
You’ll work with realistic technical materials such as test logs, calibration records, sensor outputs, spreadsheets, CSV files, PDFs, and failure reports to create challenging scenarios that reflect professional lab, testing, and production environments.
Responsibilities:
- Design and author realistic technician workflow tasks involving test setup, instrumentation, data collection, and failure diagnosis.
- Source, synthesize, and construct technical datasets based on authentic lab, testing, or production scenarios.
- Develop scenarios using test logs, calibration records, sensor outputs, failure reports, and related technical documentation.
- Define accurate solution pathways based on test data interpretation and technical reasoning.
- Create comprehensive grading rubrics containing 35+ criteria to evaluate instrumentation logic, data interpretation, troubleshooting, and failure analysis.
- Document technical procedures, observations, test results, and diagnostic findings with precision and clarity.
- Ensure evaluation tasks reflect the complexity and realism of professional mechanical engineering technician work.
- Collaborate independently while maintaining high technical and documentation standards.
Requirements:
- Strong hands-on experience in mechanical engineering technology, testing, laboratory, manufacturing, or production environments.
- Practical knowledge of test setup, instrumentation, data collection, and troubleshooting.
- Ability to interpret technical data and identify equipment or process failures.
- Strong analytical and diagnostic skills.
- Experience documenting test procedures, results, observations, and failure modes.
- Ability to work with technical files and datasets, including spreadsheets, CSVs, PDFs, and test documentation.
- Excellent written communication and technical documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently on detailed technical assignments.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 4+ years of hands-on experience in laboratory, testing, production, or related mechanical engineering technology environments.
- Associate degree or recognized trade credential in mechanical engineering technology or a related discipline.
- Extensive experience with instrumentation, sensors, data acquisition systems, and prototype testing.
- Experience diagnosing equipment, component, or process failures.
- Strong ability to interpret complex datasets and identify meaningful patterns or anomalies.
- Experience creating technical procedures, reports, or diagnostic documentation.
- Familiarity with structured evaluation, assessment criteria, or technical grading rubrics.
- Previous experience working independently on remote technical projects.
