Overview:

SourceBridge Co. is seeking an experienced Senior Database Reliability Engineer to architect, optimize, and maintain mission-critical PostgreSQL environments.

 

This role is ideal for a database engineer with deep expertise in PostgreSQL, AWS RDS, Aurora PostgreSQL, high availability, disaster recovery, and large-scale database performance. You’ll play a central role in building reliable, resilient data infrastructure within a modern cloud-native environment.

 

 

Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and manage highly available PostgreSQL architectures using AWS RDS and Aurora PostgreSQL.
• Optimize database performance through query execution plan analysis, index tuning, and advanced partitioning strategies.
• Design and maintain robust backup, replication, recovery, and failover processes.
• Diagnose and resolve slow queries, locks, deadlocks, and complex database performance bottlenecks.
• Automate routine database maintenance and operational processes.
• Promote reliability, scalability, and operational excellence across database environments.
• Collaborate with engineering and product teams to support new features, data migrations, and application scaling.
• Maintain comprehensive technical documentation.
• Communicate technical findings and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

 

Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience managing and optimizing PostgreSQL databases in production environments.
• Expert-level knowledge of PostgreSQL internals, query tuning, indexing, partitioning, and replication.
• Hands-on experience with AWS RDS and Aurora PostgreSQL.
• Strong understanding of backup, recovery, replication, and high-availability architectures.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot slow queries, execution plans, locks, deadlocks, and performance bottlenecks.
• Experience supporting large-scale, high-traffic databases with millions of rows.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a remote team.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience supporting data platforms, analytics workloads, ETL processes, and operational databases.
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code, particularly Terraform.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiarity with cloud-native service environments.
• Experience with modern data architectures.
• Exposure to advanced database monitoring and observability tools.
